The US-8 Challenge is a road challenge open to any street legal vehicle (exotic, hot rod, modified, family car, truck, motor home, beater, motorcycle, etc.) and anyone that is crazy enough to try to complete the challenge of driving almost or just over 11,000 miles around the US!
The US-8 is not a race! It is not a "follow-the-leader" rally or a time distance rally. Simply put, it is a challenge to drive from the starting point in Clinton, IL to the four points of the most NW, SE, SW and NE locations in the US and finish back at the starting point. As an added twist some competitors may want to take us up on our ECO Challenge! This would be to build a high mileage vehicle or a vehicle that uses alturnative fuels for power.

You will see it all such as:
The Great Plain States in the Midwest, Rocky Mountains, desert Southwest, Key West, Appalachain Mountains, the Catskill and Pocono Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains, Madawaska, Maine on the Canadian border, and even the small native Indian community of Neah Bay, Washington on the very beautiful Olympic Peninsula. You will also pass through or near Boston, New York City, San Diego, Chicago, Seattle, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, and much more. This trip will offer the full gamut of what the US has to offer.
If you do not live in the US, then this presents a unique way to see the country!
The question is, do you want to take your time and see the sights, cruise together with other teams, or go for your class or overall championship by completing the course in the shortest elapsed time?
Participants can do this at any pace they desire as long as they maintain legal speed limits! I know what you are thinking, Yeah right!. To prevent speeding, each vehicle will be equipped with a GPS tracking system that allows tracking movement, location and speed at any time! Further, the GPS system will alert us if you exceed the speed limit! This is an endurance challenge not a speed contest! Violations of the speeding rule will incur time penalties!
